SOHOMA LATIN AMERICA 2020 ANNOUNCEMENT

SOHOMA Latin America 2020 and COVID-19 Statement

We are monitoring the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and we decided of hosting SOHOMA Latin America in January 2021 in Bogota, Colombia. We are keen to have a conference in Bogota in order to promote the networking around the Industry of the Future. However, we decided as well to permit the interested researcher to participate online if he considers so. Then, it will be two registration fees according the level of participation: Onsite Conference and online Conference Participation. This means that the conference will be certainly held on January 27-28, 2021, either with a mixed format or entirely remote.  

Therefore, we invite to submit your contribution to the SOHOMA Latin America 2020.

It is our pleasure to invite you to the the 1st Latin-American Workshop on Service-Oriented, Holonic and Multi-Agent Manufacturing Systems for Industry of the Future (SOHOMA Latin America 2020), organized by the Industrial Engineering Department from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, at Bogota, Colombia. The Workshop is organized in collaboration with the Universidad de la Sabana, University Politehnica of Bucharest (CIMR Research Centre in Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Robotics), the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (LAMIH Laboratory of Industrial and Human Automation Control, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science) and the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (CeDRI Research Centre in Digitalization and Intelligent Robotics). In addition, the SOHOMA Latin America 2020 workshop has scientific support from the from the IEEE-IES Technical Committee on Industrial Agents and from the GdR MACS-IMS2 Research Group on Intelligent Manufacturing Systems and Services

SOHOMA Latin America 2020 will take place in Bogota – Colombia, at  Pontificia Univesridad Javeriana, on 27- 28 January 2021.

The main objective of SOHOMA Workshops is to foster innovation in smart and sustainable manufacturing and logistics systems and in this context to promote concepts, methods and solutions for the digital transformation of manufacturing through service orientation in holonic and agent-based control with distributed intelligence.

Workshop's theme

The main theme of the SOHOMA Latin America  2020 Workshop is: “Manufacturing as a Service – virtualizing and encapsulating manufacturing resources and controls into cloud networked services”.

“Manufacturing as a Service” or shortly MaaS stands for new models of service-oriented, knowledge-based smart manufacturing systems optimized and reality-aware, with high efficiency and low energy consumption that deliver value to customer and manufacturer via Big data analytics, Internet of Things communications, Machine learning and Digital twins embedded in Cyber-Physical System frameworks. From product design to after-sales services, MaaS relies on the servitization of manufacturing operations that can be integrated into different manufacturing cloud services such as Design as a Service (DaaS), Predict as a Service (PRaaS) or Maintain as a service (MAaaS).

This edition maintains the traditional focus on Holonic Manufacturing control with implementing with Multi-agent Systems and Cloud services for the Industry of the Future and its frameworks: Cyber-Physical Production Systems and Industrial Internet of Things. The scientific event will draw on research developed in the last years in the scientific community SOHOMA as well as from other sources. The main research lines are:

  • IT modelling techniques (UML, Object-Orientation, Agents,…) for automation systems
  • Holonic architectures and Multi-agent frameworks for smart, safe and sustainable industrial systems

  • Intelligent products, orders and systems in industry

  • Service orientation of control and management in the manufacturing value chain

  • Issues of agility, flexibility, safety, resilience and reconfigurability in industrial systems with new service-oriented ICT: cloud, Web, SOA

  • Cyber-Physical Production Systems and Industrial IoT for Industry 4.0

The application space for these new developments is very broad. SOHOMA Latin America 2020 will address all aspects of industrial systems management, such as:

  • Control and management of production, supply chain, logistics, transportation, after-sales services.
  • Industrial and after-sale services, maintenance and repair operations

  • Management and control of energy production and distribution

The implementing space for these application classes includes the new digital transformation frameworks and technologies, as the one advocated by “Industry 4.0” or “Industry of the future” concepts. Digital manufacturing represents the digitalization of supply, production (with planning) and delivery operations of a networked company, and uses intensively digital models and ontologies.

Examples are not limited to these areas. Papers discussing new application areas and the resulting new developments at the interface of information technology and automation are especially welcome. All contributions must indicate alignment with the Workshop’s theme.

Studies in Computational Intelligence publication 

The SOHOMA Steering Committee and the SOHOMA Latin America 2020 Workshop will propose to Springer series in computational intelligence to publish a proceedings volume, ISI and DBLP Computer Science database indexed published in Springer book series “Studies in Computational Intelligence”.

The Proceedings volumes of the SOHOMA Europe previous events, SOHOMA’11 to SOHOMA’18, which have been published in special issues of the Springer Book series “Studies in Computational Intelligence”, are  included in Web of Science, Scopus, ISI Proceedings and the DBLP Computer Science Bibliography (University of Trier, Germany). 

Journal "Ingeniería y Universidad. Engineering for development"

The SOHOMA Steering Committee and the SOHOMA Latin America 2020 Workshop will propose the "Ingenieria y Universidad. Engineering for development"  journal for publication of a selected set of presented papers. This journal is indexed in Scopus and the scope of the journal can be found on the following link:
